BMW Plug-In Hybrids with eDrive Technology do of course have the familiar driving modes of ECO PRO, Comfort and Sport for every driving situation and requirement. In addition to this, the following driving modes specific to these models are also available with the eDrive button:

  • AUTO eDrive: The system selects the most efficient drive method – purely electrical, combined or with combustion engine according to the situation.
  • MAX eDrive: Purely electric driving up to 120 km/h.
  • SAVE Battery: When the charge is below 50 per cent in SAVE Battery mode, the high-voltage battery is charged either through energy recuperation or by the internal-combustion engine, to the extent that the driving situation permits this. This mode maintains the high-voltage battery’s charge for use in all-electric mode in a later stage.

BMW Plug-In Hybrids with eDrive Technology are designed to very high technical standards, based on the same safe vehicle architecture as our conventional models. The safety of their high-voltage batteries has also been confirmed by independent institutes.

The high torque available from a standing start means that these vehicles display the spontaneity during power build-up that is typical of electric motors.
